Tangram animals

A quilt from equilateral triangles is so easy to sew as the one from squares, and it is much more interesting than that made from squares.  So I made this two small things:
Tangram animals are easy to make using equilateral triangles. The simplest shape is that:

I made a little bigger one. Actually two. The first one (a cat ?) was the one from a flower fabric. I added small triangles as eyes and a nose and thin strips to separate the parts of the body (its head and paws). But  I think that it  wasn't  very clear.

When sewing  it, I discovered that contrary to what is commonly written, it is better to cut off the dogs ears  after stitching the triangles strips together, rather than before - it makes it easier to align the triangles so that their tops fits perfectly.

As I wasn't pleased with this animal, I made the second one. I used solids and gave a different fabric for the main body, the tail's top and ears. And it came out quite differently:

And I think that in the next version of the that animal I will add a white triangle under its head.
