Teddy Bears no. 3

Teddy Bears for ever ! This time machine quilted. As ever I had a lot of fun making it, even if bears' ears were the hardest part (piecing them and watching not to sew them). And I survived sewing 39 buttons !

Christmas manufactory of make up bags

This year  I make make-up bags  as Christmas gifts.  I sew strips on cotton batting, it's very quick method and no need to quilt. I have a lot of fun especially with rainbow strips !

Blogger's Quilt Festival

I have decided to enter in Blogger's Quilt Festival with my second quilt, finished some time ago. It's a rainbow- like optimistic quilt made from the free pattern posted at the Missouri Star Quilt webside.

The most challenging quilt finished !

It took me a long time to finish this quilt  but not suprisingly as the whole quilt is sewn and quilted by hand. It's the my largest quilt - more than 4 square metres. I've decided to enter in  Blogger's Quilt Festival into the category of hand quilted.

Last weekend I have  attended  a traditional quilts' exhibition in Ostrava. Two of my quilts were shown there. This was my first exhibition as an exhibitor  and I'm very proud of myself !

Practical quilting

- a handbag with a painting. The painting is a forest landscape made during a confetti quilt course. The bag itself s is my own interpretation of applied art.

Yellow puppet puzzle...

...solved ! It's one block of a love quilt for a young constructor. I made two love quilts: the other one is for a young mathematician.  I hope they will love it :)

Wrinkles and applique

My first zig-zag machine application - wrinkles around the eyes and the mouth are from  laughing and not because of deficiencies in applique technique :)

Does it remind you of something ?
To be continued...

Landscape with soap bubbles

When I saw an open quilt competition Hello Sunshine from Quilts My Way, I knew it was an opportunity to create a landscape quilt for children - the project I wanted to make from a long time. So here it is: the landscape with soap bubbles.

Tulips in August

With longing for spring and colder weather I made  tulips. The pattern called "Amsterdam Quilt" is a free one from the Cloud9 Fabrics websiteI used beautiful - a little bit modern, a little bit retro - Soft Cactus fabrics.

Star from hourglass

I have discovered a very fast method for making quilt blocks " disappearing hourglass." Very easy one and giving a surprising final result. I used this method to make a baby blanket 36 x 48 inches.

Dresden dahlias

I had small scraps of fabrics from the Antique Fair collection by Moda, left after making a circles on squares wall hanging project - too beatiful to throw it away. Just enough to make flowers using the " Dresden plates" technique.

Snail and the rest

The rest is: sheep, a hen, a mouse, birds and a mini terrier. All on the same quilt and on a free scale.

Youth & romantic

This time  a  simple bed cover - easy to sew but impressive. Made of wide multicolored and narrow plain strips with two perpendicular long gray strips.

Two hundred squares' star

I like very much sewing using  a pixel method. It’s  like playing with blocks. Cutting  squares is simple, piecing  them together (with a fusible interfacing) - too. This time from two hundred 2.5-inch squares I made a star.

Olle Eksell's children drawings

I saw at the IKEA a very interesting fabric with the designs of the Swedish designer Olle Eksell. Although it was not a quilting fabric, I bought it because I know that I would create a wonderful quilt from it. I added another black & white graphic fabric from IKEA plus three solids and here is a final effect of it:

Arrow in the raibow

I loved the free pattern for a baby blanket " Which Way" from the Mixed Bag collection from Moda Fabrics. I was lucky to buy a charm pack from this collection. I added to that nine solids and here is an arrow on the rainbow :

Background-like bed cover

I have finally finished a hand quilting of the second bed cover made according the pattern "19th Century Reds" from  Windham Fabrics. It's the same pattern like the one used in the bed cover presented as a background of that blog.
Here is the final effect:

Prague Patchwork Meeting

Last weekend I was at the International Patchwork Meeting in Prague. For the first time. A lot of exhibitors, mainly private persons from Czech Republic and Slovakia. Majority of quilts were artistic creations, but some of them were traditional hand-quilted quilts - my favorite ones !

Cut-out...

... or something from (almost) nothing. This almost nothing was a very nice children bed linen  fabric, which became after cutting a base for two baby blankets: one large with vehicles and the smaller one  with aircrafts.

Pink but differently

I saw a very optimistic  pink - green collection Safari Moon from Art Gallery Fabrics. I bought  our FQ from this collection, added one FQ  the Bijoux collection from the same manufacturer  in matching colours. Plus energizing  backing and binding and a soft cotton filling. And here is  a small blanket for the little girl. Pink, but differently.

Colourful & graphic

I liked so much  the pattern used in the of blue, white & black geometric bed cover  that I repeated  it -  this time in full of colours  and in smaller dimension.

Sail away

This blanket was done using a free quilt pattern  Sail Away published on the is stated on the  Riley Blake fabrics website. I changed a little bit as usual by  enlarging the blocks to use all the fabrics I had.

Tulips for kids

After the work on the geometric blue, white and black bed cover, I had some small blue squares in different shadows left. I added  a very nice blue - green tulips fabric. I wanted to create a colourful chaos like mosaic, but it came out more "politely".

Hexagons flower meadow

All flowers are finally sewn together. ! For the time being it's only a top of the quilt. I changed several times the exact composition of flowers, I had to rip out some stitches  as well.

Optimistic modern rainbow

This wall hanging is for those in the blues. So optimistic and energetic that looking at it may make dependant.  I made it from the free pattern posted at the Missouri Star Quilt webside - I have modified the dimensions of borders - it looks more proporcional.

Winter butterflies

Another girl quilt,  this  time in brown - turquoise - beige colours. And a lots of butterflies: on fabrics and applique. Natural and more abstract.

Jacob's ladder

I wanted to make a bed cover using only two fabrics. I choose one basic fabric with nearly invisible small patterns and the other one with big flower patterns. After cutting, the second fabric looks surprisingly good, taking into account how big the pattern was and how small the pieces are. But this is also because of  the simple but striking Jacob's ladder pattern.

Enriching circles

This girl quilt was made from different fabrics  not used in other quilts. It was intended to be simple (only tree fabrics) but at the end it was too simple so I added circles applique. And  free hand quilting.

Blue, geometrical and modern

This bed cover comes from last year "blue period" in my work  - like the previous blue - geometrical - modern one.  But this one is different : it's more traditional.

Hexagons' flowers

A big progress in a very long work on hexies. Now instead of 1 000 hexies I have 150 flowers. And each and everyone is different - there is no the same combination of flower petals and centers.

Vertical Teddy Bears

I like so much those Teddy Bears that I have to post it once more. But this wall hanging is a little bit different from the previous one: it's vertical and the fabric used for background is more distinct.
